Parsippany PD: DWI Motorist Who Hit Highway Divider Had Heroin, Oxy, Was Missing Tire

An intoxicated 55-year-old motorist from the Bronx who struck a divider on Route 10 in Hover had heroin and several pills on him when police found him driving slowly in the center lane, said authorities who charged him.

Darren James was missing a front tire on his 2018 Ford Expedition after officers stopped him near area 2980 on the westbound side of the highway around 8 p.m. March 2, Parsippany-Troy Hills Police Chief Andrew Miller said.

James was arrested and taken to headquarters where he was charged with possession of heroin, oxycodone, Xanax and Ambien, Miller said. He was also served a DWI and charged with several traffic offenses, the chief said.

He was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility and released pending an initial court appearance under New Jersey's bail reform law.
